YES! We need all the parents who are willing to come. This helps with safety and supports our team. Our Camp Dream Team receives a discounted price of $80, which includes food and lodging.
You can register yourself or your student at oaks.church/youth.
All of our leaders are 18+, have a MinistrySafe level 3 background check, and go through Sexual Abuse Awareness Training. All leaders must agree with our honor code and leadership policies. Here are a few of those pertinent policies:
A leader may never be alone with a student in a dorm. We typically have a 1:7 leader-to-student ratio at camp.
A leader of the opposite gender may never text/DM a student or enter a cabin of a student of the opposite gender.
All students must stay in groups of 3.
We have a Dean in every cabin. (Deans are seasoned Oaks Church Parents. They oversee all of the younger leaders and the disciplinary measures at Youth Camp.)
Although we can accommodate many situations, we do not have the staff or training for students with certain special needs. Please contact youth@oaks.church and we will collaborate with you to find the best option for your student!
We are well prepared with a nursing staff that can treat all first aid problems and give direction if a student needs further medical attention. However, if your student is contagious (including lice) or requires medical intervention beyond what our nurses are prepared to extend, please note that you will be asked to retrieve them from the camp.
There are a few policies that parents should be aware of.
We take up phones at night, as nothing good happens on a student’s phone past 12 AM. We will have power strips in the leader’s room for your student’s phone to charge, and they will receive them by 7 AM the next morning. If you would like to request that your student keep their phone, please email youth@oaks.church. We will be happy to accommodate you.
We allow girls to wear one pieces or a t-shirt over a two-piece swimsuit. They must wear a cover-up to and from water activities.
Lakeview and Oaks Church has a security team made up of security officers and many parents who serve as security and deans. We do not allow any illegal substances, illegal activity, knives, guns, weapons of any kind, bullying, hazing, sexual activity, extreme wandering off, extreme disrespect, or violence. If a student engages in these behaviors, they will be given consequences, and we reserve the right to ask a parent to come pick them up.
