Jesus @ Home | OC Summer Heat Week 3

Tell us how Jesus at Home has impacted you or your family:

Scripture

"When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, 'The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.' "

Judges 6:12

"The Lord turned to him and said, 'Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you? '"

Judges 6:14

Observation

While Gideon was hiding in fear, God still called him a mighty warrior. God wasn't worried about Gideon's uncertainty. He gave Gideon an identity that was rooted in Him, which empowered him to accept the mighty call of the Lord on his life. In the same way, our identity is found in Christ, not our fears, circumstances, or upbringing . Even when we are afraid, God consistently reminds us that we can be obedient to the call on our life because He is with us.

Application

Gideon initially let his circumstances or feelings drive whether he was going to obey God or not. We may feel unqualified, insecure, or overwhelmed, but God does not wait for us to feel confident before He asks us to obey. Instead, He reminds us that He is with us. Is there one area where fear has been holding you back? Choose to take one step of obedience, remembering that your strength comes from God, not your own ability.

Prayer

Father, thank you for placing our identity in You, not in our fears or circumstances. Help us to trust your promises and give us the courage to take the next step of obedience, even when we don't feel ready. Thank you for always being with us and for strengthening us to do what You have called us to do. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I needed this today. I read this passage yesterday and asked God for some clarity and here is today and it was the weekly Jesus at home passage. What a God! I asked He answered.
