Scripture
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created... all things have been created through him and for him." Colossians 1:15-16
Observation
We often emphasize Jesus as a "Brother" or "Friend" (which is true), but we must not domesticate Him. Paul reveals Jesus as the Cosmic Christ, the one who holds all authority over both the visible and invisible worlds. He is not merely a source of personal comfort; He is the Sustainer of the universe. Only Jesus can be intimate enough to know our hearts yet supreme enough to demand our worship.
Application
Is Jesus the king of your life, or just a consultant for your problems? True Kingship requires allegiance, not just appreciation. If Jesus is Sovereign over "thrones and powers,” He is Sovereign over your current anxieties. Let your obedience today prove that you trust His authority. Because He is Lord over everything, you can trust Him with anything.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for being both our Maker and one who is familiar. Forgive us for making You small in our eyes. Help us to walk in joyful obedience and total dependence on Your Kingship today. In Your holy name, Amen.
