SCRIPTURE - 1 Corinthians 1:10
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
OBSERVATION
Paul passionately appeals to the Corinthian church to pursue unity in their community. Like many churches today, the early church faced significant challenges from divisions among its members. People were aligning themselves with different leaders, creating barriers and rivalries within the body of Christ.
Paul, however, redirects their focus, emphasizing that their unity should rest not on human leaders but on Jesus, the foundation of their faith. If anyone can live united in heart and mind, it should be those who follow the One who brings them together.
APPLICATION
What does this have to do with relational breakthrough? With Jesus as our common ground, Christians can approach conflict, hurts, and disagreements with hope and confidence, knowing that God desires unity among His people.
Many of us carry deeply painful and raw relational wounds. The hard truth about relational breakthrough is that you can’t force someone else to understand your perspective or make the right choice—it’s up to them. However, your part in the process is entirely up to you.
Your commitment to God, your decision to forgive, and your prayers for the other person are within your control. One of the most transformative things that could happen in a broken relationship is for the other person to encounter the love of Jesus. That shared faith is often the starting point for healing and the common ground needed for breakthrough to begin.
PRAYER
Can you think of any strained relationships in your life? The good news is that God desires restoration and healing for those connections. The hard part is that even if you’re ready for reconciliation, the other person’s openness to Jesus often plays a significant role in how long the process takes. In the meantime, your role is to seek forgiveness where needed, extend forgiveness freely, and pray earnestly for their relationship with God.
"God, help me to recognize any strained relationships in my life. Give me the courage to take responsibility for my wrongs and the grace to desire the best for the other person, especially their relationship with you. Strengthen my faith to believe that even the most broken relationship can be restored by your power. Let healing come as we find common ground in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
Thank you, Lord for this word you are healing me as we speak. I believe this please forgive me for where I have wronged others only you know and my broken relationships want in particular please heal us right now. You are able in Jesus name amen.
When I meditated on this passage, all I could do was to ask the Lord to help me. I asked for restoration on relationships that were broken and to give me the strength to forgive those that mistreated me and show me mercy as I forgive. I Know the Lord is the strength of my life and through Him all things are possible. In Jesus name I pray.
Amen
The power of prayer. When you feel the conviction! When you hear God’s whisper. All of it. What an awesome God we have. I love my community and I love we all have a common ground. Praise Jesus. Hallelujah. I pray relationships get mended and hearts become healed. I pray we are a light to others who are lost. Work on me Jesus. Work through me Jesus. -Amen
