About John Caraway

Nick name: As a young boy growing up, I was called John the Baptist.

What is your Ministry Role? Community Engagement Pastor.

When and where I got saved: I was saved as a young boy growing up in the great state of Mississippi at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Newton, Mississippi.

Tell us about your family: I am married to my wife Kim Rena Caraway, we were married on July 2, 1989. God blessed us with a daughter Kamilla Rena Caraway. Kamilla was married on October 10, 2020, to Rosten Riley, giving Kim and I a son as well. Kim is known as the prayer warrior of our family. God has truly blessed our family through her faithfulness. 

Regular order at Starbucks: Pumpkin Spice Latte.

People that inspire me: The Apostle Paul, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr.

The one thing that most people don’t know about me: I served as a former member of the Senior Executive Service within the Department of Justice, as one of less than roughly 700 individuals who ran the federal government.

Weird quirks: I see things in terms of processes and systems.

Most favorite thing to do: I like buying, selling, and collecting antiques especially old cars.  I hope to one day open a non-profit Antique Store in Red Oak, Texas. 

Hidden talent: I was an above average athlete in Football, Track, Baseball, Boxing, and Tae-kwon-do.

What makes me laugh: When small children say what’s really on their minds. Which in most cases embarrasses their parents!

Biggest fear: Snakes on an airplane.

Favorite Movies: All the Rocky movies, and Remember the Titans.

Favorite Scripture: Hebrews 11: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:6, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those that earnestly seek him.”  and 1 Corinthians 16:4, “Let all that you do be done in love.”

Favorite Sports: Football, Boxing and Tae-kwon-do.

Favorite Music/Band/Singers: B.B. King.

Favorite Book: All Things about Human Resource Management and Leadership.

Favorite TV Shows: Pickers, and all classic restoration shows.

Favorite Actor/Actress: Denzel Washington, and Angelina Jolie.
